A Fun Twist On A Classic Game

Christian Homeschool Cartoon Scavenger Hunt

You might be thinking, "A cartoon scavenger hunt for our Christian homeschool? Really?" Absolutely! Imagine your kids going from room to room in your house—and beyond, eyes wide with excitement as they search for fun objects made by artists and designers, that also have with cartoons on them. But you’re probably saying but I don’t have a lot of stuff in my house designed by artists.

Oh yes you do!

Everything you use, wear, live in and drive in was designed by an artist. Even those packages in your cabinets and fridge were designed by an artist. You live with art every single day and a lot of the stuff even has cartoons on them. It’s art in everyday life!

As a professional cartoonist and Christian\ homeschooling “Mema”, I’m constantly reminding my grandsons that art isn’t just something you just see in a museum—it’s all around us. Our house and your house are living, breathing museums of design, creativity, and imagination—and the more our kids notice it, the more they’ll appreciate it.

Scavenger hunts are a fun way to open the door to a whole new learning experience. Over my past 25 years of working with kids, I’ve seen firsthand how kids learn best when they’re exploring. Whether it’s hunting for a lost LEGO piece (or their left shoe), solving a Bible mystery, or following clues in an educational game, scavenger hunts activate curiosity, creativity learning for kids, and problem-solving skills—all while keeping things fun and hands-on.

Here's a little-known fun fact about Scavenger Hunts

Did you know that the birth of modern scavenger hunts didn’t appear as a fun game didn’t appear until the early 20th. Century. A socialite named Elsa Maxwell, in the 1930’s popularized the modern scavenger hunt as a party game for the wealthy elite. The players were given a list of bizarre or hard to find objects and had to race to collect them before time ran out. Fun Facts About Elsa Maxwell

Her scavenger hunts included challenges like:

Find a live duck

Retrieve an autograph form a celebrity

Bring back a key from a famous building

It was silly and fun, and this game quickly caught on and became a favorite pastime, encouraging creativity and teamwork among participants.

Imagine how this could be a delightful addition to your Christian homeschooling activities! It's a wonderful way to combine fun, learning, and the spirit of adventure.
